Embodied Anatomy Workshop Schedule

 

Dates: March 7, 8, and 9 2025
Time: 09.30 AM – 4:30 PM

Day 1: Anatomy of the Spine (Friday, March 7th)
We will focus on exploring the anatomy of the spine, delving into its structure, function, and significance in relation to
movement and alignment.

• 9:30 AM – 12:30 AM: Introduction to Spine Anatomy (the Parts). Spinal structure/Moving the Spine
Function of the Spine (Balance/Off-Balance) Role in movement and Stability and Mobility (Occipital/Sacral rhythm)
Importance of spinal alignment in movement on all levels.
• 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch Break
• 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Hands-On Exploration. Somatic activities to feel and understand spinal movements. Partner exercises
for alignment awareness. Spine in Relation to Movement. How spine anatomy affects overall movement and personal
experiences.

Day 2: Anatomy of the Pelvis and Legs (Saturday, March 8th)
Our attention will shift to the anatomy of the pelvis and legs. We will examine how these components interact with the
spine and contribute to overall stability and mobility.

• 9:30 AM – 12:30 AM: Introduction to Pelvis and Leg Anatomy (Ilio-Femoral Rhythm). Overview of pelvic structure.
Examination of femur, tibia, and fibula. Function and Significance of the Pelvis. Role in weight-bearing and movement.
Importance of pelvic/leg mobility in movement.
• 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch Break
• 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Practical Exploration of Pelvic Movement. Partner exercises focusing on pelvic mobility. Techniques for
improving alignment and function. Integrating Pelvis and Spine. Understanding the connection between the spine and
pelvis.

Day 3: Anatomy of the Arms and Shoulder girdle (Sunday, March 9th)
We will conclude our workshop by exploring the anatomy of the arms and shoulders, investigating their connections to the
torso and how they facilitate expressive movement.
• 9:30 AM – 12.30 AM: Brief lecture on the anatomy of the shoulder girdle and arms (Gleno-humeral Rhythm) . Somatic
Exploration of Movement. Guided movement exercises to explore the range of motion in the shoulder and arm. Focus on
awareness and sensation in the body.
• 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch Break
• 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Partner exercises to assess shoulder mobility and stability. Hands-on activities that connect anatomical
knowledge with movement practices. Participants practice specific exercises that enhance shoulder and arm function.
Exploration of how the arms and shoulder girdle contribute to expressive movement.

Wrap-Up and Reflection.
